Meet the folkers!

Over the past few months I have come across some really awesome indie folk and folk rock bands. The following list is a collection of folky-type tracks that are on regular rotation on my playlists. The first section has more of an indie folk feel while the second is folk rock.

The Lumineers - Hey Ho
Of Monsters And Men - Little Talks
Young Rebel Set - If I Was
The Head And The Heart - Lost In My Mind
The Head And The Heart - Down In The Valley
Dawes - When My Time Comes
Deer Tick - 20 Miles

The first 5 songs are the type of songs that you'll instantly love. Dawes and Deer Tick's songs has grown on me in a big way. The lyrics from Dawes track are brilliant and Deer Tick is just totally unique. I mean you don't hear a voice like that everyday. Sounds like he swallowed a few cheese graters.

Boy & Bear - Feeding Line
The Rural Alberta Advantage - Stamp
Delta Spirit - Bushwick Blues

These three songs have been around for a while but they never get deleted off my playlists. They're just amazing. Especially Delta Spirit's track (which also kind of grows on you).

Oh and in case you were wondering, the picture is of Jim Morrison on stage during one of The Doors' performances. It really doesn't have anything to do with the post. I just really like it.
